The Aga Khan Centre Gallery in partnership with One Resilient Earth hosted the special event dedicated to “Nature’s Making, Unmaking, and Loss” on April 20th, 2023 in London (UK).
The public was first invited to view the “Seeds, Trees & Mountains” exhibition, which explored themes associated with nature, as well as loss, in relation to climate change and its impact on our lives. The mixed media exhibition featured works by artists Veeda Ahmed, Samantha Buckley, Emily Ketteringham, Karim Ahmed Khan, Samantha Batra Mehta, Olga Prinku, Andrea Roberts, and Diana Taylor.
As part of the public programme of the exhibition, an in-person workshop was dedicated to exploring our personal relationship with the fragile natural world, as well as the emotions we feel when facing climate change and biodiversity loss. One Resilient Earth offered participants the opportunity to engage in a deep-listening circle for climate and nature emotions, which provided a safe space to reflect upon the exhibition’s themes.
Subsequently, Laureline Simon, founder of One Resilient Earth, participated in a panel on “Nature’s making, un-making and loss,” discussing themes of loss around climate change and its impact on our lives. The panel included artists and scientists involved in the project.
The exhibition was organized as a partnership between the Aga Khan Development Network, the Aga Khan University, the Aga Khan Foundation, the Institute of Ismaili Studies, Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, and One Resilient Earth.
