Volunteer Opportunities

Communication Volunteer

About the role

One Resilient Earth is seeking motivated volunteers with previous experience in non-profit communication, as well as knowledge of climate change.  Our team is international and we are fully open to remote work.

The Communication Volunteer would contribute to the following activities:

  • Promoting our events and workshops to enhance participation;
  • Promoting our activities under the Tapestry programme for resilient local communities to facilitate partnerships and enhance financial support;
  • Maximising the use of Google Ads, through our Google Ad grant, including for fundraising purposes;
  • Contributing to strategy and content creation for general social media channels.

Requirements & skills

  • Students or professionals in communication, social impact marketing, non-profit management or related fields.
  • Strong editorial and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. WordPress would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in tackling issues related to the environment and climate change.

Time commitment

  • 10 hours per month
  • Minimum commitment of 1 month with total duration dependent on project needs.

Research Volunteer

About the role

One Resilient Earth is seeking motivated volunteers with previous desk-research experience in relation to international frameworks and governance on climate change, biodiversity conservation, and human rights, including refugee rights and Indigenous Peoples rights.  Our team is international and we are fully open to remote work.

The Research Volunteer would contribute to the following activities:

  • Carrying out desk-research to support work under the Tapestry programme for resilient local communities, and the Waves of Change programme;
  • Drafting synthesis notes on specific questions;
  • Contributing to report writing and general report formating and referencing;
  • Identifying possible partner organizations for scientific projects.

Requirements & skills

  • Students or professionals with a background in international relations, international law, sustainability studies, environmental management, human development, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of challenges related to refugee rights and/or Indigenous People’s rights.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.
  • Demonstrated interest in tackling issues related to the environment and climate change.

Time commitment

  • 10 hours per week
  • Minimum commitment of 1 month with total duration dependent on project needs.

Artist Outreach & Curation Volunteer

About the role

One Resilient Earth is seeking motivated volunteers with an interest in the arts, environment and climate change to help us with our artist outreach and art curation activities related to our various resilience building projects. We are open to teleworking.

The Artist Outreach & Curation Volunteer would contribute to the following activities:

  • Identifying and reaching out to artists from multiple disciplines around the world to participate and contribute in various resilience initiatives.
  • Curating artists and artworks that match specified project guidelines.
  • Aiding in the design of project materials incorporating artworks including presentations and print.
  • Editing and publishing art related content on One Resilient Earth’s website and social media channels.

Requirements & skills

  • Students or professionals in visual arts, literature, theatre, dance, art curation, art direction or related fields.
  • Strong editorial and writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) as well as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and WordPress.
  • Demonstrated interest in tackling issues related to the environment and climate change.

Time commitment

  • Minimum 10-15 hours per month
  • Minimum commitment of 4 weeks with total duration dependent on project needs.
