Through a two-year collaboration with the Potsdam Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, One Resilient Earth was invited to facilitate hybrid climate emotions circles during the international climate negotiations held in Glasgow and Sharm el Sheikh.
As part of the Co-Creative Reflection & Dialogue Space led by the Potsdam Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, and in collaboration with Sarah Queblatin from the Green Releaf Initiative (Philippines), and Joyce Najm Mendez, youth climate advocate (Brazil), Laureline Simon facilitated ‘Climate emotions, feelings and breakthroughs,’ a hybrid online-in person, open-sharing and deep-listening event at COP26 in Glasgow (UK). Participants explored the role of emotions in the international climate change negotiation process, and described their exchanges as ‘necessary’, ‘moving’ and ‘inspiring’.

At COP 27, we held a climate circle dedicated to sharing the fears we feel when relating to climate change, as well as the fears we experience when listening to the fears and stories of other participants. The gathering was held for 12 participants both online and in-person at COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt). It offered a transformative experience of growing empathy in vulnerability and of trust building.
